Elon Musk met Parag Agrawal over dinner, found he wasn't fire-breathing dragon Twitter needed as CEO

Elon Musk had met then Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal over dinner in 2022 and had felt that he was not the 'fire-breathing dragon' that the platform needed.

In Short

  • Elon Musk met Parag Agrawal in 2022.
  • Parag Agrawal was the CEO of Twitter back then.
  • Elon Musk had said that Parag wasn't what Twitter needed.

When Elon Musk took over Twitter in a much-talked-about deal in October last year, one of his first steps as the new owner was to fire the then-CEO Parag Agrawal. Along with him, Musk had also fired other top-level executives of the company and eventually, thousands of employees lost their jobs. Twitter, today called X, is a very different platform from what it was when Agrawal was at the helm.

And now, a report by The Wall Street Journal reveals that Parag Agrawal and Elon Musk met over dinner in 2022, and the latter wasn't really impressed by the former. The report is based on an excerpt from a book, which is a biography on Musk and will be published on September 12. The book is by writer Walter Isaacson, who kept tabs on Musk for three years.
